Netcompany INEOS confirms late entry for Copenhagen Sprint as all 18 WorldTour teams line up in Denmark

Netcompany INEOS Cycling Team has confirmed that it will take part in Copenhagen Sprint 2026, reversing its earlier decision not to enter the race. The announcement follows shortly after the team unveiled its new Danish partnership with Netcompany.

The late addition means that all 18 UCI WorldTour teams are now confirmed for the men’s race, which starts in Roskilde on 14 June and finishes in Copenhagen.
Copenhagen Sprint Denmark’s newest international cycling showcases, designed as a high-speed WorldTour sprint race connecting the historic city of Roskilde with the Danish capital. With a route tailored for sprinters and a finish in Copenhagen, the race adds a distinct Nordic profile to the international cycling calendar.
The team, formerly known as INEOS Grenadiers, recently announced Netcompany as a new sponsor. With that partnership bringing the team closer to Denmark, Copenhagen Sprint will now provide an early opportunity to showcase the new identity on Danish roads and in front of a highly engaged cycling audience.
“It means a lot for us to be heading to Copenhagen Sprint, especially so soon after announcing our new partnership with Netcompany, which we are very excited about,” says Geraint Thomas, Director of Racing at Netcompany INEOS Cycling Team.
“To be racing in Denmark shortly after the announcement makes this a special moment both for Netcompany and for us as a team.”
A sprint opportunity for Sam Welsford
Netcompany INEOS is expected to bring Australian sprinter Sam Welsford to the start line. With a strong lead-out and support team around him, Welsford could become one of the key contenders in what is set to be a high-speed finale.
“Going there with a rider like Sam Welsford, who has a genuine opportunity, and with a strong team around him, makes it even more motivating,” says Geraint Thomas.
“Opportunities like this in WorldTour sprint races do not come around that often, so we are really looking forward to it and will be aiming for the best possible result.”
A full WorldTour field for Copenhagen Sprint
With the addition of Netcompany INEOS Cycling Team, Copenhagen Sprint will feature every UCI WorldTour team in the men’s race — a significant milestone for the Danish event and a clear indication of its growing international appeal.
Jesper Tikiøb, Race Director of Copenhagen Sprint, says:
“I still have to pinch myself when I look at the fact that every WorldTour team will be on the start line for the men’s race. With such a strong and complete field, and with teams clearly prioritising their line-ups, it confirms that Copenhagen Sprint has earned an important place on the international cycling calendar.”
Netcompany announced its sponsorship of the team on Tuesday 28 April. The partnership will also lead to a team name change when the Giro d’Italia begins on 8 May.
